FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE_______Wilton Manors
(Ft Lauderdale), Florida, U.S.A. April 14, 2007, "Guajiro,
Freedom of Expression," Group Exhibition.
The
Ellen Charapko Gallery is pleased to present Cuban Abstract Expressionists,
Joel Núñez, Raúl "Boro" Rodríguez,
and Lazaro "Lacho" Martínez, as they present
their latest works of art. The opening reception with all three
artists present, will be held on Friday, April 20th, 2007, 7 -
10 p.m.
All
three painters were originally born and raised in Communist Cuba.
Núñez and Martínez have been in the United
States for less than two years. They all share a familiarity with
the anguish of creating fine art within an oppressed country,
which had severe consequences.
Each
artist has an incredible human interest story of struggle, inspiration
and passion. Renowned in Cuba, Martínez and Rodríguez
have long lists of achievements and exhibitions in their former
beloved country. All three creative comrades share in the joy
of newly obtained liberty to freely express themselves in the
United States.
You
are cordially invited to the Ellen Charapko Gallery for an encounter
with Cuban Expressionism for this premiere exhibition entitled,
"Guajiro, Freedom of Expression." Guajiro stands for
love and pride of country, a longing these artists hold for Cuba,
its people, culture and beauty, which they left behind for freedom.
The
Ellen Charapko Gallery is not located on Calle Ocho, Little Havana,
or Miami, but in a contemporary setting in the center of "The
Island City," Wilton Manors / Ft Lauderdale.
