BRYAN BOGATER
BIO
Born in 1974 and raised in metro Detroit, Bryan Bogater knew from the first
time he picked up a camera that he wanted to work in the field of
photography. Bryan studied photography at Washtenaw College in Ann Arbor,
Michigan. Besides working on his own photography, Bryan also works as a
custom printer and prints for fine art exhibits, and major publications
around the world.
Flowers
are a beautiful subject to shoot, evoking moods from sensuality
to strength to solitude. This series, Alchemist's Flowers,
are shot with a 4x5 camera on Polaroid 55 film, which produces
a negative and a print at the same time. Manipulation during the
developing process accentuates the emulsion, which also causes
a painterly look to the images. These images are printed in the
darkroom on silver-gelatin, fiber-based paper.
Bryan
is influenced by Man Ray for his skill of Surrealism, Edward Weston
for his beautiful still life's and William Eggleston for making
the most ordinary and mundane things interesting.
The Alchemist's Flowers series is an edition of 25-11 x
14's, 10-20 x 24's
and 5-40 x 50's.
